Start listening

Dougie McLellan discusses Doune Castle – Shawlands’ forgotten music venue, based on his blog of the same title. This is followed by a brief conversation with the author regarding his place in the community of musicians – including some of Glasgow’s biggest names – that got their start and then flourished there in the 70s and 80s.

  • Just been listening to your podcast on the Doune Castle. Brought back many memories including celebrating my 21st Birthday and it’s where I first met my husband in 1980. A crowd of us went to Doune Castle every Friday night to see a brilliant band called Jack Easy. They played covers of all the great classic rock band and singers eg Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hurricane by Neil Young, stand by me by Ben E King and many more. Doune Castle was a special place and we all still reminisce about it to this day. Thanks for talking about your memories of it too.
